Blockchain Innovation Challenge: applications are open

Applications for the Blockchain Innovation Challenge are open until 7th February 2019.

The Alliance Program is partnering with Columbia Entrepreneurship and the Columbia Venture Competition to launch a Blockchain Innovation Challenge (BIC). The competition is open to students and recent graduates from all four Alliance Program members, including Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Teams of students and recent graduates are invited to submit proposals for new or existing ventures using blockchain technology to create innovative solutions in a range of areas, including: crypto protocols, finance, asset management, investment, insurance, supply chain, property, healthcare, online publishing, journalism, entertainment, the Internet of Things, voting and elections.

The stages of the competition are:

  1. Written applications (including project descriptions, CVs and budget sheet) must be sent by email to: picha@univ-paris1.fr. Deadline for applications is 7th February 2019
  2. Interview: shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their projects to selection committees in each of their institutions.
  3. Start-up Columbia Entrepreneurship Festival

Each selected team of finalists will present their project to an independent panel at the Columbia Venture Competition on the New York City campus at Columbia University on 4th April 2019. The winners will be announced the following day at the Start-up Columbia Festival on 5th April 2019.

The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of $30,000. In addition to this, each of the other teams of finalists will be awarded a $5,000 cash prize and offered mentorship sessions with successful industry leaders and entrepreneurs.
