New steps towards cooperation with Seoul National University

Founded in 1946 as the first national university of Korea, Seoul National University has 15 colleges (including one in Humanities and one in Social Sciences), one graduate school and 11 professional schools. Over 28,000 students are enrolled at this leading Korean university.

Professor Maria Gravari-Barbas, Vice-Provost for International Relations at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, met with representatives of Seoul National University; Professor Min Gyo Koo, Dean of International Affairs, Professor Suk Won Cha, Associate Dean of International Affairs and Woosik Moon, Professor of Economics.

This meeting was the opportunity to discuss a project of cooperation agreement including student exchange, joint PhDs and double degrees between both institutions. Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Seoul National University are already working together on an Erasmus Asia-Europe Double and Joint Master on Global Governance, Economy and Development, involving other Asian and European universities. The main goal of this project is to operate dual degree programmes between internationally renowned institutions from both continents in the field of International Studies, Political Science, Economics and Development.

Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne has been cooperating with South Korean institutions since 2007 and already has student exchange agreements with two universities: Kyungpook National University and Sungkyunkwan University. Two students from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne studied in South Korea in 2018-2019 and three students completed an internship there last year.
