UNA Europa building momentum: Paris writing week and Madrid workshop
UNA Europa are working together and preparing to submit their proposal to the European Commission.
WRITING WEEK AT PARIS 1 PANTHÉON-SORBONNE
Member universities of UNA Europa gathered at the International Relations Department of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne from 27th November to 29th November to prepare their submission to the European Commission in response to the call for pilot European Universities initiatives.
The three days brought together academic and administrative staff from the six European universities in order to detail the activities in the proposal and determine how best to implement them based on the expertise of partners.
Three strategic areas - University of the future, Virtual European University and Mobility for all - were discussed in plenary and parallel sessions by participants including experts from each institution.
The discussions at the writing week, in a broader sense, contributed to questions relating to the reinforcement of the European Higher Education Area and utilised the diverse skills and knowledge of UNA Europa members.
Moving forward, UNA Europa now has a shared vision and is ready to finalise the details of the project for submission in February. The spirit of Europeanisation and collaboration was captured in the week’s discussion and will be present as UNA Europa launches into its next steps.
DOCTORAL WORKSHOP AT UNIVERSIDAD COMPLUTENSE DE MADRID
The first doctoral workshop of UNA Europa was held at Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 21st to 23rd November.
One of UNA Europa's priority actions is to promote exchanges between PhD students, doctoral schools and researchers from the six member universities. The aim of the doctoral seminar was to create a multidisciplinary and inter-university forum for young researchers, combining research in specific fields and critical reflection on the challenges that Europe faces today. The theme of this first doctoral workshop was cultural heritage, which is one of UNA Europa's headline interdisciplinary themes.
It brought together more than 30 young researchers from the six universities that make up UNA Europa. In addition to doctoral students presentations, lectures were given by academics with a specialism in issues of cultural heritage.
Six doctoral students from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne presented their work during this workshop: Ndèye-Katy Dieng, Céline Hachem, Mathilde Etot, Inès Lamouri, Justine François and Valentina Montalto. They represented four of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne’s 10 doctoral schools, coming from the schools of geography, archaeology, art history, and public law.
