Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne joins the Lafayette Fellowship
Created in 2025 to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, the Lafayette Fellowship program is an initiative led by the French Embassy in the United States, Villa Albertine and France Science, aimed at enabling American students to pursue higher education in France.
Open to both Francophone and non-Francophone students, the Lafayette Fellowship program provides funding each year for up to 30 American students wishing to complete one year of master’s level study in France. Its ambition is to foster a new generation of young leaders committed to strengthening transatlantic relations. Alongside their academic studies, fellowship recipients also participate in the immersive French-American Leadership Program that includes lectures, opportunities to engage with leading figures and researchers, site visits, and mentoring.
Over thirty programmes at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, either taught in French or English, are eligible for the fellowship program in the following fields: economics, art history, law, applied mathematics, tourism, history, political science, arts, philosophy, development studies, demography and interdisciplinary studies.
Applications for the 2027-2028 fellowship are open until 1st December 2026. Applicants must also submit a separate application to Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University through the Études en France or eCandidat platform, in accordance with the university's application procedures and deadlines.
