The university welcomes its new international students

From 5th to 9th September, 350 new international exchange students coming to Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne either for one semester or the full academic year were welcomed at the university.

WDCoordinated by the International Relations Department, the Welcome Days are a series of events dedicated to welcoming and facilitating the arrival of international exchange students at the university. They aim to help students fully settle in at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and to develop a strong sense of belonging to their host institution.

In addition to optional five-day French as a Foreign Language (FLE) courses delivered by the university's Language Department, an introductory welcome meeting was held on 6th September at Campus Port-Royal and a drinks reception took place on 8th September at the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris (CiuP), which provides accommodation options for Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne’s international students.

The introductory meeting, opened by the President of the university, Professor Christine Neau-Leduc, enabled students to get to know the institution, its support services and student organisations (including student life and sports services, as well as the International Students Association of Paris 1), to get all the necessary information in order to complete their enrolment and to identify staff members who will be their main points of contact during their entire stay at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. The drinks reception was a great opportunity for participants to meet other foreign students in an informal setting and to get in touch with international relations delegate teachers who attended the reception.

Label BEFThese Welcome Days were held alongside the university's numerous events and meetings organised for all newcomer students before the start of the academic year. Specific welcome events aimed at international students also took place within the university's academic departments. Over 120 full-degree international students who have enrolled in the university outside exchange programmes were also welcomed by the International Relations Department during an online information and Q&A session on 7th September.
