French University of Egypt: Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne to launch an off-campus bachelor's degree in Tourism

On 2nd June, Christine Neau-Leduc, President of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and Denis Darpy, President of the French University of Egypt (UFE), signed an agreement in Cairo to launch an off-campus programme for Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne’s bachelor's degree in Tourism and Hotel Management. The signing ceremony was attended by Ayman Ashour, the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

This vocational bachelor's degree, delivered in English, focuses on the management of hotels and tourist accommodation in Egypt, and more widely in the Middle East and Africa. Based on the curriculum of the course offered by the Institute of Research and Higher Studies in Tourism (IREST), it aims to attract and train students from all over the world who wish to pursue a career in the tourism and hospitality industry.

The course will be taught by teachers and researchers from the UFE and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, as well as guest lecturers. On completion of the bachelor's degree, students will graduate from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and obtain a certificate of achievement from the UFE.

This new off-campus IREST degree complements the existing off-campus master's degree in Heritage Management offered at the UFE. Starting in the 2024/2025 academic year, the UFE will therefore provide two off-campus degree courses from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University in Tourism, covering both bachelor's and master's levels.

Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University is delighted to strengthen its collaboration with the French University of Egypt, a partner since 2010. This enhanced partnership reflects the two institutions' shared commitment to offering innovative training programmes that facilitate academic and cultural exchanges. On a broader level, it builds on a long tradition of cooperation between France and Egypt in the fields of heritage, culture and tourism.
