Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne attends the 25th EUA General Assembly
On 20th and 21st April, the 25th General Assembly and 2023 Annual Conference of the EUA (European University Association) were held at Politechnika Gdańska, in Poland. As a member of this organisation, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne was represented by its vice-president for Europe, Fabienne Peraldi-Leneuf.
With over 850 member universities from 49 European countries, the EUA plays a crucial role in addressing major issues in European higher education such as open access to scientific publications, funding models for higher education and research, university governance and autonomy, learning in higher education, as well as the inclusion and integration of migrants in higher education institutions.
This year, the conference was structured around the theme "We need to talk about impact", resulting in many exchanges and sharing of practices between representatives of European universities. Sustainable development strategies in the aftermath of the pandemic and in the context of the energy crisis were discussed, as well as digital transformation with discussions on the BLOOM hub, developed in the framework of the Erasmus+ OpenU project, coordinated by Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
The 25th General Assembly of the EUA this year had a double agenda with, on the one hand, the election of the new president for the next four years - Josep M. Garrell, former rector of the Universitat Ramon Llull - and on the other hand, the election of five members to the organisation's Board.
Besides its involvement in the EUA, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne takes an active part in a large number of networks and programmes, both at the European and global levels, in order to expand its partnerships and develop new international projects.
