Launch of an off-campus Innovation Management programme in São Paulo

On 24th October, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University signed an agreement with the Faculdade de Economia, Administração, Contabilidade e Atuária of the University of São Paulo (USP), to offer its Innovation Management master’s programme from the Sorbonne School of Management in Brazil.

Expanding horizons through Internationalisation at Home

This programme will allow students to take courses in economics, management, accounting and actuarial science at USP, complemented by classes taught in English by faculty members from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Upon completion of the two-year programme, students will graduate with two separate degrees: the Innovation Management master’s from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the "graduação" from USP. Scheduled to start in the 2026-2027 academic year, the programme will be delivered entirely in São Paulo and will also include seminars led by French professionals. It seeks to equip future leaders with the skills to drive innovation processes with a global and sustainable approach.

The partnership was formalised in Madrid during the General Assembly of the Una Europa alliance, of which Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne is a founding member. Hosted by Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 22nd to 24th October, the event brought together up to 400 representatives from the 11 partner universities as well as rectors from Latin American institutions, focusing on Europe–Latin America dialogue.

A milestone year for France–Brazil cooperation

This new partnership strengthens the well-established ties between USP and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, paving the way for new forms of international collaboration. In addition to student exchanges, the two universities have been working together for several years on joint scientific projects based on comparative research in humanities and social sciences.

This agreement coincides with a year of intensified French-Brazilian cooperation, highlighted by the 2025 France–Brazil Season, which aims to give fresh impetus to 200 years of bilateral relations. In this context, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne organised the first phase of the DÉMOCLITES project ("Democracy, Climate, and Ecological and Social Transition") in June 2025, with support from the Institut Français. Workshops and conferences addressed these contemporary issues through a transdisciplinary approach, involving several university departments and research units. In early November, discussions continued in Brazil with the second phase of the initiative.
